A term used by photographers is "street photography," or "candid photography," which is described as the art of capturing cullture, life and humanity in a candid manner, usually featuring chance encounters in public places. Some of these fine art photographs are chance encounters, some are of friends or family. In each case it was our intention to capture "the decisive moment," (a phrase coined by Henri Cartier-Bresson, one of the earliest practitioners of street photography,) where everything comes together in a perfect moment, and you hit the shutter and make the photograph.
